Baseband Hardware Engineer

Eagle Wireless is a connectivity company delivering secure, reliable, and scalable cellular modules and solutions for automotive and IoT applications. With a strong presence in the United States and global R&D teams across North America, Europe, and APAC, Eagle Wireless supports customers worldwide with long-life, compliant, and cyber-secure connectivity products. Focused on trust, supply chain resilience, and regulatory compliance, Eagle Wireless helps OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and IoT innovators deploy connected technologies with confidence in an increasingly complex global environment.

We are looking for: Baseband Hardware Engineer

The Baseband Hardware Engineer (with a focus on digital design and system integration of automotive connectivity modules) is a key member of the Eagle Wireless R&D team. In this role, you will be responsible for the digital hardware design of NAD-based modules — power architecture, memory, high-speed interfaces, thermal concept, and peripheral integration — in accordance with customer requirements, chipset design guidelines, and automotive standards. You will collaborate closely with RF engineers, PCB layout designers, software teams, product management, and purchasing to deliver robust and cost-optimized designs on schedule. Additionally, you will proactively contribute your expertise to component selection, design reviews, and technical consulting, and help guide projects through all development phases from concept to series production.

Key Requirements

  • Design the power distribution concept for NAD-based modules, including power sequencing, PDN definition, and decoupling strategy.
  • Work on memory solutions (MCP or discrete LPDDR/eMMC), including interface routing requirements and signal integrity constraints.
  • Specify and implement digital interfaces and bus systems such as USB, Ethernet, PCIe, SDIO, UART, I2C, and SPI.
  • Integrate peripheral functions into the NAD design — HSM, eSIM, audio codec, and IMU — including interface definition and configuration.
  • Define GPIO assignment and chipset configuration and assess unused pins and unused components to ensure a safe and cost-optimized design.
  • Provide power dissipation and thermal input for the module thermal concept and verify hardware behaviour against automotive operating conditions.
  • Select components together with purchasing and quality, considering AEC-Q qualification, lifecycle, availability, and cost.
  • Create schematics, supervise layout work, and drive design reviews through to series release.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years in digital hardware design of embedded or wireless products, ideally in automotive.
  • Solid experience with power supply design (DC/DC, LDO, power sequencing) and PDN dimensioning.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed interfaces (USB, Ethernet, PCIe, DDR) and the associated signal integrity requirements.
  • Experience with memory interfacing (LPDDR, eMMC/UFS) and with chipset or SoC integration based on vendor design guidelines.
  • Experience with schematic tools and supervising PCB layout.
  • Board-level debugging skills with oscilloscope, protocol analyser, and lab equipment.
  • Structured working style and strong communication skills in a cross-functional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cellular NAD chipsets (Qualcomm, MediaTek, or similar).
  • Familiarity with functional safety or security concepts (HSM, secure boot) at hardware level.
  • Experience with t and worst-case/derating analysis.
  • Experience with automotive development processes and design reviews with OEM/Tier-1 customers.
