Embedded Software Engineer

Eagle Wireless is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer as part of the Software Team in the Minneapolis office.

Join us. Help build the networks the next generation of connected technology runs on.

Eagle Wireless is building the connective tissue of the physical world.

Every connected car, every industrial sensor, every IoT device that needs to talk to the cloud reliably and securely — that’s where we come in. We design and deliver cellular modules and connectivity solutions that automotive, and IoT companies trust to work for years, in the field, without compromise.

Our teams span North America, Europe, and APAC, giving you the chance to collaborate with world-class engineers and go-to-market experts solving hard problems at global scale — from cybersecurity and supply chain resilience to regulatory compliance across dozens of markets.

If you want your work to matter in a world that’s rapidly connecting everything, and you want to do it alongside people obsessed with getting the hard stuff right, Eagle Wireless is where that happens.

Join our team to design, develop, and integrate firmware for next-generation cellular modules. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team building embedded applications and low-level software that interact directly with wireless hardware, including LTE, 5G, and IoT technologies, and will help drive technical decisions around architecture, performance, and reliability in production environments.

Key Requirements

  • Design, develop, and debug embedded software for wireless modules and microcontroller-based systems
  • Work closely with hardware and RF engineering teams on platform bring-up and hardware/software integration
  • Implement and test device drivers, communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C), and middleware
  • Support cellular module integration, certification testing (PTCRB, FCC, carrier-specific), and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Contribute to and help define software development workflows, including version control, continuous integration, and code reviews
  • Guide board bring-up and protocol stack development, and mentor other engineers on best practices, tooling, and documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in embedded systems development, including bare-metal and/or RTOS environments
  • Proficiency in C and/or C++ for embedded systems, with experience in low-level hardware bring-up and debugging
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems architecture, memory management, and peripheral interfaces
  • Familiarity with debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG/SWD
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team environment
  • Experience with cellular modules (e.g., Quectel, Telit Cinterion, Semtech), including AT command sets and network troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of 4G/5G connectivity, eSIM/eUICC integration, SIM interfaces, or GNSS functionality
  • Familiarity with Yocto, Linux kernel/device tree customization, secure boot, or FOTA practices
  • Understanding of wireless protocols such as TCP/IP, MQTT, or CoAP in constrained devices
  • Experience building test harnesses, automated validation frameworks, or manufacturing test development
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or lead others

What We Offer

Our work environment is collaborative, and we offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, which includes medical/dental/vision, generous PTO and paid parental leave programs.

Eagle Wireless recognizes the importance of forming inclusive teams to foster an environment where creative solutions are made for our clients, and all have the opportunity to thrive and succeed. We encourage candidates from a variety of backgrounds to apply to be a part of our team.
