About the Role
The MBA Investing Intern will work alongside our investment team to source, evaluate, and execute software company acquisitions. This role provides deep exposure to the full deal lifecycle from initial market mapping and outreach through diligence, investment committee preparation and post-close integration planning. You'll develop expertise in software business models, valuation methodologies and the unique dynamics of vertical software consolidation.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Sourcing & Pipeline Management
- Conduct industry mapping and research to identify attractive software verticals and acquisition targets
- Build and maintain proprietary databases of potential acquisition targets and industry contacts
- Support outreach campaigns to founders, operators, and intermediaries to generate deal flow
- Track pipeline metrics and maintain CRM systems for investment opportunities
Investment Analysis & Due Diligence
- Build and refine financial models for software businesses (ARR analysis, unit economics, cohort retention)
- Analyze SaaS metrics including CAC/LTV, NDR, gross margins, and churn patterns across portfolio companies
- Conduct competitive landscape analysis and market sizing for target verticals
- Support technical, financial, and commercial due diligence workstreams
- Prepare investment committee memos and presentation materials
Market & Industry Research
- Track trends in vertical SaaS, software consolidation, and B2B software ecosystems
- Develop industry overviews and thematic research on attractive subsectors
- Monitor competitive dynamics, pricing trends, and product evolution in target markets
- Analyze transaction comps and market multiples for software businesses
Portfolio Support
- Assist with post-acquisition integration planning and value creation initiatives
- Support portfolio company performance monitoring and reporting
- Participate in portfolio company board meeting preparation
Qualifications
Required
- Currently enrolled in a full-time MBA program (Class of 2026 or 2027)
- 3-5+ years of pre-MBA experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity, or high-growth tech/SaaS
- Strong financial modeling and Excel skills with ability to build complex three-statement models
- Demonstrated interest in software businesses, B2B SaaS, and/or private equity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter who thrives in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
Preferred
- Prior experience in software/SaaS investing, M&A advisory, or growth equity
- Technical background or experience working at software companies
- Understanding of software business models, go-to-market strategies, and SaaS metrics
- Experience with CRM tools, deal databases, and financial modeling software
- Network within software founder or operator communities
