About the Role

The MBA Strategic Finance Intern will support financial planning, analysis, and decision-making across our platform and portfolio companies. This role combines FP&A, corporate development, and capital allocation. You'll build financial models, lead planning processes, provide decision support on investments and initiatives, and help portfolio companies build financial infrastructure. You'll gain exposure to both holding company-level strategy and portfolio company unit economics.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead or support 3-year strategic planning and annual operating plan (AOP) processes for platform and portfolio companies
  • Build and maintain consolidated financial models for the holding company and individual portfolio companies
  • Develop forecasts, scenarios, and sensitivity analyses to inform strategic decisions
  • Create executive dashboards and reports tracking key financial and operational metrics

Portfolio Company Finance Support

  • Partner with portfolio company CFOs and finance teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Build financial models to evaluate pricing strategies, go-to-market investments, and product initiatives
  • Analyze unit economics, cohort behavior, and customer lifetime value across portfolio companies
  • Support portfolio companies in building financial infrastructure and upgrading finance capabilities

Investment Analysis & Capital Allocation

  • Model acquisition opportunities and assess financial attractiveness (returns, payback, synergies)
  • Conduct post-acquisition financial integration and synergy tracking
  • Evaluate organic investment opportunities (new products, market expansion, sales capacity adds)
  • Support capital allocation decisions across the portfolio (reinvestment vs. dividends vs. acquisitions)

Strategic Finance & Decision Support

  • Analyze key strategic questions with financial implications (pricing, bundling, sales capacity, retention initiatives)
  • Build business cases and ROI analyses for major initiatives and investments
  • Support board meeting preparation with financial performance materials and variance analysis
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support executive decision-making

Qualifications

Required

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time MBA program (Class of 2026 or 2027)
  • 3-5+ years of pre-MBA experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, FP&A, or strategic finance
  • Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel—ability to build detailed three-statement models, DCF valuations, and scenario analyses
  • Strong understanding of SaaS financial metrics (ARR, bookings, billings, deferred revenue, retention, unit economics)
  • Analytical rigor with attention to detail and ability to synthesize large data sets
  • Excellent communication skills—ability to translate financial insights for non-finance stakeholders

Preferred

  • Prior experience in software/SaaS financial planning, modeling, or investment analysis
  • Background in transaction support (M&A, growth equity, leveraged finance)
  • Experience with financial planning software and business intelligence tools
  • Understanding of software revenue recognition, subscription accounting, and SaaS metrics
  • Exposure to post-acquisition integration or portfolio company value creation
