The TMS Technician plays a vital role in patient care by administering Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatments under the guidance of our board-certified psychiatrists. Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister TMS Treatments
- Set up the TMS device for each patient
- Precisely position the magnetic coil on the patient’s head, ensuring patient comfort and adherence to treatment protocols
- Monitor patients throughout the TMS session, ensuring safety and proper device functioning
Patient Care & Engagement
- Greet patients and explain TMS procedures in a clear, comforting manner
- Assess and document each patient’s condition before, during, and after treatment
- Monitor and report any unusual patient responses or side effects to supervising psychiatrists
Equipment & Safety
- Perform routine device checks and follow standard operating procedures to maintain equipment integrity
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control guidelines
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and coordinate any significant repairs with technical support
Clinical Documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date treatment records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- Document motor threshold determinations and treatment parameters under the clinician’s direction
- Ensure all documentation meets compliance and regulatory requirements
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with supervising psychiatrists to update treatment protocols as needed
- Coordinate patient scheduling and follow-up appointments with administrative staff
- Contribute to team discussions on patient progress and clinical improvements
Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field (e.g., Psychology, Nursing, or related area) preferred
- Medical Assistant certificate or other allied health certifications a plus
Experience
- Prior experience in a patient-facing healthcare setting (mental health experience strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with TMS equipment is beneficial but not required; on-site training will be provided
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in following treatment protocols and documenting patient data
- Comfort with learning new medical devices and technology
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in potentially stressful patient care situations
- Basic computer proficiency for EMR documentation
Additional Requirements
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date)
- Must pass a background check and meet other employment eligibility standards
