About Firstbase

Remote work is the biggest workplace revolution in history. Nothing will deliver a higher quality of life upgrade in the next decade. The biggest challenge is in providing the core infrastructure that makes going remote easy for companies. Firstbase helps companies setup, manage, maintain and retrieve all the physical equipment remote workers need to do great work at home.

We're a small and fully distributed team, currently spanning from the US to Berlin and we take pride in our ability to function as an effective remote-first organization. We offer market-rate salaries (including equity), a home office (via Firstbase), insurance, and a tight-knit group of people passionate about creating for the future of work.

About This Position

Firstbase is looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape the future of how people experience remote work around the world. You will help us define our design practices and design better products for both people & businesses.

Our core platform does two things today: it gives businesses the ability to instantly support remote workers with all the physical elements they need to do great work (from computers to furniture to perks), and it gives workers the ability to pick & choose what they need for their unique circumstances. You’ll work to discover, define, and design great product experiences that meet their needs and help support the rise of remote and hybrid work. You’ll do all this in close collaboration with engineering, product management, and other partners across Firstbase.

Salary Range: $120K US // 80K EU/UK

Your Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the visual and UX design of the Firstbase platform, using proven practices for research, design, prototyping and experimentation

  • Drive the creation and adoption of our design system in partnership with engineering

  • Be a mentor to future design hires, and help guide the Design team's work through your own example and through feedback in critique and design reviews

  • Help recruit and interview new product designers, and actively improve our hiring process

What We're Looking For:

  • A multidisciplinary designer comfortable with a range of design & research practices

  • A track record of success pushing through ambiguity & designing complex user journeys

  • A strong advocate for user-centered design and research practices, with past experience driving adoption of those practices within your company

  • An exemplary portfolio, with case studies that showcase a thoughtful process as well as simple, beautiful, enjoyable products

  • A pragmatic approach to solving problems in a fast-paced startup environment

  • Experience collaborating with a highly-distributed team and a global customer base

  • A learning and growth mindset: Our team size and our design process will evolve and change significantly over the next couple years

  • Excellent written, verbal, and storytelling skills, including the ability to advocate successfully for your recommendations to company leadership

Nice to Have:

  • Experience designing both B2C and B2B software products

  • Experience working in an early stage start-up or similar fast-paced, scrappy environment

  • Experience creating or making significant contributions to a design system used by a larger team of product designers

Tools We Use: We use Figma today, but any expertise using similar tools is great. (Sketch, Illustrator, XD, etc.)

We’re committed to building a diverse team that reflects and helps us better serve our customer base’s needs. We strongly encourage you to apply regardless of your location, background, race, gender, sexual orientation or any other personally defining attribute. We’re imperfect communicators, so think of our job postings as the starting point for discussion rather than a reason that you shouldn’t apply. Please take the leap! You might just be the perfect person for one of our open roles, even if you don’t match 100% of the job description.
