(Senior) back-end/devops engineer

WeatherPromise – a startup backed by some of the highest profile VCs, with an outstanding team across the US and Europe, a strong pipeline and deep proprietary tech – is looking for an experienced back-end/devops engineer.

Our Mission: WeatherPromise is on a mission to protect consumers’ amazing experiences against bad weather. If you go on vacation, take part in an outdoor activity, attend a music festival or sporting events, etc., and the weather is not what we promised, WeatherPromise automatically reimburses you. We know that consumers value experiences over things, and weather is the biggest factor in making or breaking those experiences. WeatherPromise promises that weather won’t spoil your experience.

What We Do: WeatherPromise is completely automated and embedded in our B2B Partners’ sales funnel. We automatically create, price and select a WeatherPromise for each activity, trip or purchase based on precipitation, heat, cold, or any other relevant weather parameter and then watch the weather in real time. If the weather is not as promised, we automatically pay our customer. We distribute our coverage through B2B Partners such as online travel sites, hotel chains, airlines, and others offering experiences potentially impacted by weather. Our offering is driven by high quality weather data, real-time pricing, massive data insights and cutting-edge UX/UI work. Learn more at www.weatherpromise.com.

Who We Are: We are a team spread across Europe and the US. We are repeat founders, engineers, data scientists, climate scientists, product managers, and UI/UX designers come from places like Meta, Klarna, McKinsey, Booking.com, Snapchat, Blinkist and Circ and academic institutions like Columbia University and Washington State.

You will be working directly with our entire team – from front-end engineering to data science, climate science and product – and with the tech teams at our B2B Partners.

How You Will Grow: You will have the opportunity to learn while the entire business grows rapidly and delivers a novel service to large numbers of end customers via very sophisticated and large B2B Partners. Along the way, you will be part of our growing tech team delivering against challenging objectives driven by our ongoing growth and product development. Your next role may well be to lead your own team within the larger tech team.

Who You Are: You will combine a can-do approach, strong sense of ownership and a willingness to be challenged and grow beyond your current skill set. You will make decisions in a business-oriented and data-driven fashion. The ideal candidate will further have:

o At least 5 years of experience in building resilient, fault-tolerant, highly available cloud- native event-driven data intensive systems using Java, Kotlin (preferably Spring), Go (or any other major programming languages and frameworks)
